Once again Rodale has come through. I own a lot of gardening books, but if I could only have one, this would be a consideration, as it covers everything in a simple, easy to follow manner. The information on pest treatment is somewhat limited, but gardening methods, tools, tips, etc, are very complete. If you only have one book on organic gardening for vegetables, this would be a great choice. One of the big advantages of this over other garden books is the full color pictures and the detailed drawing and explanations, which are to the point. (I do not like wordy books – just the facts!)

Very happy to find this book! This book is an excellent guide for a beginner gardener like myself. It explains all the basics about how to start your own small vegetable gardens, how to take care of the patch, what to do with specific crops. Thanks to this amazing book, I successfully harvested summer squash, green beans, and cucumbers — all beautiful and chemical free — for the first time in my life, hustle free. Too bad this book has been discontinued.
