Ways To Improve Your Garden Version 3.0

Your Garden

Not everyone has a natural green thumb and knows instinctively how to create a beautiful garden. With today’s sources of information about gardening, the knowledge you need is at your fingertips. Whether you are planting herbs, vegetables, flowering plants, annuals or perennials you can find information, tips and inspiration in a number of different places. Start off by visiting your local garden center to get information, ideas and help. Ask the experienced gardeners in your family or amongst your friends for help and advice. Read gardening books and magazines to get inspiration for the design of your garden. Gardening shows will give you great ideas, tips and information about how to grow a green, healthy garden.

If you’re finding it difficult to figure out how to choose plants appropriate for your climate and soil conditions then you should take a walk around your neighbourhood to see what is working (and what isn’t) for your neighbours.

When you have ideas in place for your garden the next step is to put together a design plan. Knowing what you plan on using your garden for will allow you to set clear goals. When you are planning out design consider the size of the project. Will you be planting a small garden space or redesigning the entire area? Will you need expensive materials like aggregates, stones or rocks? Will you be adding water features like a fish pond or waterfall? Before you go ahead consider what will easily grow in your climate. Look at the present condition of your soil and the type of drainage you currently have. No matter your ideas you must ensure you are being realistic and cost effective.

Before you decide to undertake any new project, consider your budget. A realistic budget is necessary before you start on any type of gardening project, big or small. Shopping for deals and specials and finding gardening savings is sometimes really important in order for you to stay on budget. Weekly flyers and sales at your local garden center are a good way to find deals. It is important that you don’t let cost affect the quality of plants that you buy.

Make sure that the plants you get, whether on sale or not, are healthy. If you choose a plant that is unhealthy it could die which will mean that you will have to pay more money to replace it. Other healthy plants in your garden can be affected by one unhealthy plant that can spread disease throughout your garden. It is critical that you purchase healthy plants while remaining on budget. And remember, you garden can grow every year. If you can’t afford everything this year, plan on adding more tools or containers or whatever the following years…

Once you start looking for gardening tips you will start finding them everywhere. Choosing plants that will help cut down on maintenance is a great idea. You can suppress weeds in your garden by choosing ground hugging plants. Choosing plants that are not prone to weeds will make your gardening experience a little easier. Sometimes colorful plants require the most maintenance.

Planting containers, boxes and pots are a great alternative to adding color to your garden. Keep invasive plants in line and also keep your garden looking neat by using border edging. You can cut down on lawn maintenance by replacing part of the grass with stones or gravel and then planting borders around these areas. Keep your plants healthy by getting them ready for dry spells all you have to do is mix water strong granules into the soil.

You don’t have to be a natural gardener to have a healthy and beautiful garden. Gardening can be learned by anyone – it is part art and part science and a whole lot of fun.
