There are two types of garden swings. Relaxing adult swings and Children’s swings used for play. Different designs and uses but garden swings none the less.

Adult Swing – Garden Swing Seats

The adult garden swing, or rather garden swing seats, is similar in style to those porch swings that no movie based in the American South would be complete without.

Relaxing on one of these swing seats, as it swings back and forth in hypnotic motion, can feel very therapeutic, and somewhat calming. Just the thing you need to unwind after a hard day at the office, or as a mid day break from the housework.

With modern life’s heavy and hectic schedule a place where you can just sit and do nothing is a godsend. Especially in today’s seemingly never ending rat race.

Adult garden swings generally come as either 2 seater or 3 seater models, and most will be stand alone. So there is no need to have somewhere to hang them from as it will already come with the frame for this purpose.

Wooden Garden Swing

Most swing seats are made from two main material types. Wood, or low weight aluminium.

Both material types have their advantages and disadvantages. If you already have wooden garden furniture in your garden, then a wooden swing would be a great accompaniment to your setting.

Ideally, like all of your other wooden furniture, it is best to cover it during the winter months, and especially made covers can be purchased for this purpose.

It is possible to buy an arbour with a swing seat attached, which can add to the overall aesthetics of your garden.

Aluminium Garden Swing

The lighter weight aluminium garden swing has the advantage that it easier to move, if needed, and is usually less expensive than the wooden variety. Though this is not always the case, and there are many other factors affecting price.

These will generally be quite durable, but again, it would advisable to cover during poor weather.

Both of these types will usually come with a material covered seat, and an overhead cover providing shade from the sun. Many will come with a material that is quick drying. Helpful after those unexpected showers.

Gazebo Swings

An increasingly popular piece of outdoor furniture is the gazebo garden swing. These will require a bit of room, but if you have the space, one of these in your garden will be a notably distinguished addition to your garden scene.
