I got this plant from Hirt s and was pleased with the size and health, but disappointed that it had neither flowers nor buds right away.

After waiting a while with no results, I moved it to sit under a plant light, and gave it African Violet food. Voila! Tiny green buds appeared after about two weeks, and they -slowly- got larger and turned white.

Two weeks ago, the first bud opened to reveal a small, pristine white, delicate flower. The fragrance was heavenly! Everyone in the family stopped to inhale deeply every time we went past the pot.

When the blossom fell off the following day, I floated it in water, and it continued to provide fragrance for several days.

Other buds are swelling, and a total of five have opened including the first one. Each flower stays on the plant for about 24 hours, some a little more, some a little less. Yesterday, I had two OPEN at once. They fell off this morning, but another one opened.

Best of all, as the current crop of buds swell and open, I see new tiny green buds starting from branches that used to be bare.

The plant is easy to care for (don’t drown it, don’t let it dry out; give it good light; feed it lightly and infrequently with something like African Violet fertilizer), and is beautiful just for its leaves and overall shape. The flowers, when they come, are heavenly.

I’ve ordered several other plants from Hirt’s, and all of them have arrived in excellent condition. This is the first one that I’ve gotten to bloom.

I ordered several plants. They arrived and didn’t look like anything in the pictures. One was sick and dying. It was small and only had a couple of branches. I contacted the seller several times but they didn’t respond. I finally had to file an A-to-z Guarantee Claim with Amazon. This is a very dishonest seller.

I bought this plant and a few others from Hirt’s Gardens via Amazon. The plants arrived this week and I couldn’t believe how small they were for the price I paid. The condition seemed OK, although I thought the packaging was a bit odd, but the plants were not much bigger than the seedling stage. The pictures of the plants do not reflect the size, it would take at least a couple of years to grow. I’d save your money and try and find a local plant nursery, at least you know what you are getting and don’t have to pay the shipping cost.
