Foxtail palm caring tips

One of the palm trees that is really nice are the foxtail palm trees.  It is a spectacular palm tree named because of it’s foliage.Each leaf has the look of a foxtail.The name is derived because of that very fact.  It is originally from Australia but is now grown in a variety of landscapes.Since the foxtail is native to Australia you will have to take care of it in a specific way.  In this article we are going to look at the various ways.

First of all you have to be aware of the climate that foxtail palms thrive in. It is used to a dry climate so it does very well in sunbelt areas.It you try to plant it in an environment that isn’t like that, then the problems start to begin.Because if grown in climates that are cold it has a tendency to get certain diseases.Another thing you should know is that wet soils will rot the root.So the best way to care for it is to make sure you keep the soil well drained and dry.

Next thing to look for if you are in the market to look for palm trees for sale is to not overwater the foxtail.Although most insects and bugs it is resistant to, it still can get fungal disease. The cause of that is usually overwatering.  The best thing is not to overwater and have good drainage.  For a palm tree that is very strong that should be an easy thing to watch out for.

And lastly the foxtail palm tree grows very easily.  Some palm trees like king palms aren’t so easy to grow as a foxtail.That is why more and more people are starting to like the foxtail.It grows well in either a partly shaded area or with full sun.Another thing is you don’t have to do much pruning.Low maintenance everything is what people in general want so this palm works in wonderfully.

So those were some of the things that make it good to own a foxtail palm tree.As you can plainly see even without the populartiy of some palm trees, it still has it’s benefits.
